Job Description and Application Information

Position Title: Proyecto SOL Intern*

*This internship is open to high school seniors, college students, or any people who have enrolled in college or high school within the last four years. Applicants must be 16 years or older.

About Proyecto SOL:

Proyecto SOL is an after-school program at three IPS schools. Over the course of 8 weeks, the Proyecto SOL Interns and ECI’s Latino/x/e Outreach Coordinator will visit each school once a week to cover a range of eco-therapy activities with 5–15 bilingual students in grades K-5. The target audiences for Proyecto SOL are Latine students and students from Spanish-speaking homes, but all students are welcome to join. All sessions will be held in English and in Spanish. Eco-therapy is a broad term for outdoor activities that deepen one’s connection with nature and the mental and physical health benefits of this exposure. Examples include gardening, yoga, biking, hiking, and more!

Internship Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead Proyecto SOL sessions along with ECI’s Latino/x/e Outreach Coordinator

  • Assist with the development of programming and activity ideas for club sessions

  • Provide an empathetic approach to support students’ needs

  • Help address any behavior issues with students directly and through communication with school administration and family

  • Create social media content for ECI platforms, such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook

  • Participate in professional development opportunities related to the intern’s interests and aspirations

  • Support ECI’s programming needs through data entry and other responsibilities as assigned

  • Represent ECI at community tabling events and co-lead other bilingual nature events as needs arise

A strong candidate has the following skills and experience:

  • Highly comfortable in bilingual environments, including understanding and speaking both English and Spanish

  • Experience with kids, especially the K–5 age group

  • Passionate about ECI’s focus areas, including youth empowerment, climate action, sustainability, environmental justice, and nature connection

  • Experience and fluency with creating social media content, especially video editing

  • Availability during the weekdays, particularly between 3:30 PM–6:00 PM

  • Access to dependable form(s) of transportation

Please don't be intimidated by the responsibilities or skills listed. Your enthusiasm for this opportunity and your passion for connecting with local Latine youth in a bilingual setting are what matter most. We recognize and value the diverse experiences and skills each individual brings, and we are committed to supporting the professional development goals of all our interns.

Hourly Range: $12–15, depending on experience, qualifications, and grade level. The Proyecto SOL Intern can expect to work an average of 5–10 hours per week.

Timeline: The internship will start the week of September 1st and will run through the mid-November (exact dates TBD). Interviews will be held the week of August 18th (and the week of August 25th, if needed). A total of two Proyecto SOL Interns will be hired for the fall 2025 season.
